The Joy of Song
with Cora Ellen Luke
Join us as we turn the volume down on the inner judge, and up on the joy of singing. Whether you love to sing anywhere and anytime, belt it out but only in the shower, or silently mouth the words and hope nobody notices, you are invited to this part of the retreat. For thirty minutes, we will sing together as ordinary humans with ordinary voices have been singing for thousands of years — for the joy, beauty, fun, and soul of it. Songs will be simple and easy to learn. Your level of participation is up to you — sing as little or as much, as loudly or as softly as you like.
For twenty-five years, I've been teaching at retreats, churches, and universities about one of my deepest passions — the discovery and nurture of one’s own creativity, including one’s own singing voice. I understand the vulnerability that many experience when it comes to singing, and I offer a safe and encouraging space in which to explore this part of yourself.
— Cora Ellen
Cora Ellen Luke did not think of herself as a creative person until she was nearly forty years old. That’s when a major sea-change forced her to toss some old beliefs overboard, including all she’d been taught about what creativity is and is not. She is a singer-songwriter, a poet, and a therapist.
