SANDHILL CRANE RETREAT 2026
I plan to construct this retreat with the specific people who show up wanting to play.
My retreats typically have a QUESTING component. Basically, I set up an interesting context within which participants have a task or tasks toward gathering information about some issue in their lives. (Abraham-Hicks style, the thrust will be toward what you want to create or bring in, not what you want to fix or eradicate.) I can't think of a more brilliant placement for questing than smack in the midst of the flurry and stillness of the great sandhill crane migration. I don't know about you, but I've wanted to take this in firsthand for some time.
We'll do some set-up work before we meet in the Platte River valley area of central Nebraska. I'll meet with you individually and as a group. Pre-retreat engagement will include:
Post-retreat engagement includes
I always make room for participants to engage at different levels that align with your intentions and the realities of your life. I do invite you to decide very clearly that you intend to maximize a fantastic experience that is potentially life-changing, both in the specific focus you choose for your quest and in the overall adventure of playing together in the magic, of participating in your dance with consciousness in the dynamic now as we move through the adventure. And what an exquisite dance with consciousness the sandhill cranes represent and experience as they migrate!
You will come with clear intentions that I've seen and interacted with so that you're on-point and we're on the same page. You will not be asked at any point to share your individual intentions with the group. Anything you are invited to do will be yours to say yes or no to and to adjust to your preferences and needs. This is a cocreation and I honor your self-knowing and your power to choose. I also extend now the general invitation to get what you come for and, toward that end, to be willing to walk yourself out of your comfort zone and meet yourself there, as I will meet you, kindly and compassionately.
I have given many retreats over more than a decade and a half and make myself very available to participants while we're together to support your movement through whatever arises and to do all I can to optimize the good you create in and derive from our shared event and your personal experience.
We'll be working with principles related to manifestating (intending, choosing, creating, allowing) the life you want, with particular focus given by each participant to your chosen realm of life and more specific intention. Likely topics we'll get into include
following your guidance systems
releasing what doesn't serve you
finding flow in the wanted rather than pushing against the unwanted
working with resistance or how we work (think, speak, feel, act) in opposition to what we want and intend
I will provide optional Qigong sessions daily for anyone interested. I love this practice for the way it gets us out of the head and into the body; in graceful, fluid motion; and in expanding the breath and our conscious connection to breathing. Other practices that you can do on your own can certainly offer similar support. The Qigong will include some bird forms
Housing and meals will be determined based on communication with interested participants.
Peak time for viewing the sandhill cranes in the Platte River valley area of central Nebraska is mid- to late March.

- a questionnaire that you fill out individually and I respond to
- a group zoom meeting (recorded, so that you have it whether or not you're able to attend, and I'll seek to find a time all participants are present)
- some individual back-and-forth emailing & possibly brief zoom meeting to ensure clarity of intention and meet any resistance arising
- communication from me to the group relating to both logistics and content
- a place for group members to post musings, images, and resources for all concerned (in a document, not social media, so anyone can access and participate; whether & how much you participate is up to you, and I invite you to engage and to do so with ease)
Post-retreat engagement includes
- a group closure session (90 minutes)
- an individual closure session (30 minutes)

I found this from random searching on YouTube. It comes from from Rick Andrews Wildlife. Please forgive the use of he/him for the actually unsexed colt that comes of the nesting. It's crazy, but I was not consulted about better ways to phrase that.
