There's some storytelling about my father's passing in October and the magical events (gorgeous timing; animal sightings; effortless, unearned redemption and healing) that made it more beautiful and meaningful than I could have orchestrated with my best smarts and clearest intentions. That's how it works: the magic connects us to what's bigger than our small self, allowing us to actively experience our oneness with the whole and the other parts. Because if you’re brooding, planning or worrying about a future; if you’re walking around believing that you’re not okay, and rehearsing thoughts about that or the most recent scene that seemed to prove you’re not—then you’re not here. Words from a program participant
We were heading down to the nearest city for a family Mary Poppins movie adventure, and I was stuck in a gut-spewing morning of vague anger at houseguests plus a hefty dose of personal unpleasantness and guilt ... and I couldn’t really see a way for the Light to come in. While the rest of my family picnicked under the palm trees, I sat in the car and just tried to keep quiet. And then I saw that I had not yet found the right moment to listen to this audio recording. And then I saw that you’d included a PDF--so no listening was even required! I sat in the car and read your words from start to finish, and was touched and moved by your story about your dad’s death, and your mom’s presence, and the point of noticing spiders--and by your shared wisdom, as always. And somehow, a gentle crowbar of Light slipped in, and I could take some deep breaths again. The crud wasn’t gone, but I could breathe without pain. Which was definitely something. "You look much happier!" one kid noted timidly, when she came back to the car. "I am," I said. "I'm excited to go see that movie together!" And off we went. |
